Heather McIlroy
CEO
Mrs McIlroy joined the school in 2007 and has overall responsibility for both the school and Personal Best Education. “Mountbatten is a lifestyle choice. If you love tradition fused with cutting edge teaching, it’s the only place to be!”
Andrew Portas
Headmaster
Mr Portas joined The Mountbatten School in 2010. He started as Headmaster in September 2022. “We are proud that our students demonstrate the key values close to Earl Mountbatten’s heart: integrity, responsibility, courtesy and tolerance, as well as an awareness of the importance of equality and sustainability. Our aim is to nurture our youngsters’ talents so that they leave The Mountbatten School as responsible and caring global citizens.”
Christopher Cox
Deputy Headteacher
Mr Cox joined The Mountbatten School as Deputy Head in 2005. “The Mountbatten School has a very special ethos with a unique combination of traditional values, high expectations and a curriculum that reflects the needs of tomorrow.”
Chris Martin
Deputy Headteacher
Mr Martin joined the school as Deputy Headteacher in 2015 and currently oversees Student Services. “I love working at Mountbatten because we all work together to provide as many interesting and exciting opportunities for our students as we can, so they can all find their gifts.”
Chris Goodrich
Director of Business Services
Mr Goodrich joined the school in 2005 and is responsible for everything that sits outside of teaching and learning, including finance, human resources, IT, the estate and administrative functions. He says “I love the buzz and variety that working in a school environment presents, no one day is ever the same. I take great pleasure from playing my part in creating an environment in which young people can flourish and succeed."
Rob Davenport
Assistant Headteacher
Mr Davenport joined Mountbatten in 2005 as Assistant Headteacher. He is responsible for Pupil Premium and Student Leadership. “I love being a teacher, encouraging, helping and seeing our students succeed. I believe passionately that ANYONE can succeed and past performance doesn’t have to define future success. I love it when I see students demonstrate this.”
Ian Dunn
Assistant Headteacher
Mr Dunn joined in 2010 and is Assistant Headteacher in charge of Curriculum and Assessment. “I am proud that The Mountbatten School prepares students to be happy and fulfilled young people of integrity.”
Charlie Fisher
Assistant Headteacher
Mrs Fisher joined Mountbatten in 2012 and in her role as Assistant Headteacher is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher for Looked After Children. “I love taking every opportunity to bring the real world into the classroom to encourage passion and curiosity in every student.”
