The site is now in full bloom with the hanging baskets looking splendid in the rare sunshine we do have!
With the weather supposedly getting warmer, it is important that students take precautions in the sun and remain hydrated. It would be good for students to come to school with a water bottle; there are plenty of taps located around the school for them to be filled up. This also supports the school’s sustainability agenda.
The heating replacement project has now been completed. The majority of the school’s heating infrastructure has been replaced and the new air source heat pump is working extremely well in the Jubilee block. This will go a long way in reducing the school’s carbon footprint.
Construction work is progressing fast on the new reception and admin block, which will come into operation in September. Further details will be communicated on the new arrangements in due course. The building is carbon-neutral with solar panels and an air source heat pump for the heating; it has been built so in the future when funds become available, we are able to fill the whole roof with solar panels.

Last Chance! Year 9 Enterprise Project
This is your last chance to order a tote bag - be sure not to miss out!
We are a group of Year 9 students that have been studying Enterprise. Over the year, we have learnt why small businesses exist and what makes them a success, market research methods, promotional activities and finance methods. This week, they presented to the whole staff.
Alongside our theoretical learning, we have been developing our own business ideas. This year we have chosen to create reusable and sustainable tote bags for staff and students to purchase. There is a choice of designs that you can select from!
They measure 38cm x 42cm, so they're big enough to hold a PE kit, or an A4 folder. The bags will be available for a limited time only and at the very competitive price of £2.50!
These can be ordered before Friday 21 June via the following Google Form and an online payment using Scopay. Orders will be distributed via tutors before the end of the summer term.
Thank you for supporting us!

Year 11 Cricket Taster Event
Year 11 prospective students are invited to attend a taster event for the successful Cricket Programme we run in partnership with Hampshire County Cricket Club.
During the cricket programme, Barton Peveril students will have the opportunity to receive up to 6 hours of coaching per week at the Utilita Bowl and play in a very busy competitive fixtures programme during the summer term. These fixtures include the Altham Trophy (T20), the National Colleges T20, the National Independent Schools T20, the Girls Cricket Paper 100 ball competition and a series of prestigious matches against private schools including Winchester College, Millfield and Lancing College. The programme is led by experienced coaches, including ex-professional cricketer Brad Taylor.
This event will take place on Monday 8 July from 9.00am - 11.00am at the Utilita Bowl. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet staff, ask questions, be provided with a tour of the facilities, and take part in a practical coaching session (please bring your own kit for the practical session).
Students attending the event will need to meet in the foyer of the Arlott Atrium at 8.45am.
This week Stephen Cowling, Deputy Principal, visited Year 10 and talked to students about the many subjects and enrichment activities on offer at the college. Students wishing to find out more are welcome to register for their upcoming Open Event on 3 and 4 July via the college website. Prior booking is essential.
Year 10 ‘Oxford Explained’ seminar at Peter Symonds College – Tuesday 9 July 2024
There are a few more spaces available for students considering university as a post-18 option. This talk focusses on introducing students to the University of Oxford, the courses and societies it has to offer and the application process. It includes information on financial support available at the University, the practicalities of picking a course and a college, and illustrates practical ways in which pupils can engage with their subjects outside the classroom. Advice on choosing A Level/IB subjects is also offered. The talk will take one hour and interested students should email the Careers Department.

Click on the tabs below to find out what each year group is exploring in RSHE this term!
Year 7
Students have been discussing what a diverse society looks like and what the protected characteristics of the equalities act are. This has led to identifying and challenging stereotypes and what discrimination is. Students are also exploring what prejudice and bias looks like within the media and how they can research and find their own facts. Students are also identifying who their role models are and what influences they have upon them, as well as how to manage peer pressure.
Year 8
Students have been busy identifying what constitutes a healthy relationship and discussing how to form positive and healthy new friendships. This moves onto exploring their online activity and behaviours with the aim to reduce online risks and develop their digital resilience. Students also explore the importance of human rights and responsibilities within society, the school environment and the workplace and how to challenge discrimination.
Year 9
Students have been identifying how relationships can change and evolve. This has also included considering loss. Family dynamics and marriage are explored and Year 9 revisit what constitutes a positive relationship. Contraception and the risk of sexually transmitted infections is shared with the students.
Year 10
Students have been reflecting on their work experience placements by sharing their experiences and feedback with one another. They have also been completing their work books and evidence in preparation for their entry to the Prince’s Trust World of Work certification. They will then move on to considering role models and aspirations before revisiting online safety.
Year 11
Students complete their RSHE program this half-term ahead of their exams but have spent some time reflecting on their RSHE journey throughout their time at Mountbatten from Year 7 to Year 11. They have discussed some sensitive topics around pregnancy, miscarriage and abortion with maturity. Positive relationships and consent have been explored and developed from their work in Year 10. We hope that our RSHE curriculum will help our students stay healthy and happy during and long after their exams.
Should your child wish to seek support related to any of these topics or about anything else that is worrying them, please advise them to speak to their form tutor in the first instance or request some support from our Student Support Team by completing the Student Support form on the student area of the school website.
We have our reporting system 'TootToot', where students can report anonymously or with their name.
